Our 30 hour vacation... Yep it was GREAT

We had Robert’s lovely trip to Rockport, TX the other week, so this past weekend was my trip to Galveston, TX.  Thursday the 11th was Cole’s visit with his endo doctor.  The doctor decided it was best to change Cole’s long lasting insulin from a night shot of Lantus to a day shot of Levemir.  Friday the 12th was our first day to try this .  We knew his numbers were going to be all over the place so I was second guessing whether or not we should go on our trip.
We decided to go to Galveston anyway and left Friday afternoon.  We arrived in time to go to bed.  At 2:00am we checked Cole’s bg level.  I don’t recall now what it was but it must have been normal because we did not give a correction shot.  At about 3:30 Cole began to cough.  Cole sleeps on his stomach and was coughing from that position.  I jumped up and sat him up (we were all sleeping in the same bed on this trip).  I sat him up and he began to throw up.  It wasn’t a lot of throw up just enough to scare him and gross me out.  Cole then decided it was time to wake up as I began to clean up his throw up.  Cole was running around and dancing and laughing so we decided that perhaps he just choked while lying on his stomach.   We figured we would see how he was acting in the morning.
The morning rolled around and he was fine.  Laughing and playing.  So we got dressed to go to the beach.  We first stopped and ate breakfast, and like normal Cole ate his breakfast.  We then went to the beach for about an hour and played in the water and sand.
At 11:00ish I decided we should pack up and go get lunch so Cole could take his nap.  We sent to Scholtzsky’s and ordered Cole a pizza…. Which by the way the 17 month old normally eats the whole dang thing.  (I know it’s not great… don’t judge).  : )  Anyhow, he would not touch it.  Tried to give him a tomato (which he loves) and he would not eat that either.  Robert and I ordered ice cream.  I tried to give him a bite of that and he didn’t want that either.  He seemed really tired so we chalked it up to that.  I took Cole to the car and let him start falling asleep while Robert finished eating.  I figured we could get him food when he woke up.
Cole woke up from his nap and scarfed down pickles that I had brought him.  I tried to give him lunch meat and he would not touch the meat.   We decided we would just eat an early dinner.
Dinner time rolls around and again Cole would not eat.  Well he did eat his fries but would not eat anything else.  We decided something was not right.  Cole normally eats a lot.  We brought him back to the hotel and started getting ready for bed.  Cole threw up again.  Robert and I packed up and headed home.  We decided if something was wrong it would be best to be by our doctors.
This goes on for a couple of days.  Cole had several lows throughout this sickness which is odd because he normally goes high when he is sick.
So much for the trip to Galveston.  Just thankful Cole started eating better within a couple of days.  His doctor changed his insulin dosages again so he wouldn’t have so many lows.
Oh the joys of T1D!
