I Need a Vacation Already
My need for planning is starting to consume me : ) Our Disney World trip is coming up soon
(FYI to any crazies reading this, soon could mean 5 days or 3 months so don’t
go trying to figure out my schedule-also no point breaking into our home, we
are now broke after this trip). Anyhow,
I am a bit obsessive when it comes to planning.
I have made several excel spreadsheets, including all rides at Magic
Kingdom, Hollywood Studios, Epcot and Animal Kingdom (you know just a basic
spreadsheet of what the rides are and if Cole would like them). I have also done one with our dinning
reservation times and our fastpass times for rides. I have started a list of things needed for the
trip including all of Cole’s medical supplies.
We have an appointment with Cole’s endo doctor so I can get any
suggestions from her with dealing with heat and Cole’s pump for the trip.
I have started ordering extra pump bands for Cole to wear on
the trip. I have ordered extra frio bags
(cooling bags for Cole’s insulin to keep it good). Even ordered one for Cole’s pump, although
that one seems huge, so not sure how that is going to work out.
I have researched ways to keep Cole’s sites good with the
sweat from the heat and swimming in the pool.
I have researched what other families with T1D children have done on
their Disney trips to make it more manageable.
I normally research and plan stops for the drive there and back
and book hotel rooms. This trip I am
holding back. It is so hard not to
research this aspect and have every moment of the trip booked. Yes I know, I am a bit crazy, I mean who
books every moment…. Me that’s who. Well
not every moment, but I like to have an idea of where we are staying every
night. BUT I am not going to do it… ok I
lie, I have already looked a little bit as to the route we should take and how
far we should drive everyday…. But I WILL NOT book a room. I have to keep telling myself traveling with
a toddler we will have to make frequent unplanned stops, so I cannot plan every
detail.
I am seriously the type of person that needs a vacation
after my vacation. And throwing in a
Type 1 Diabetic toddler on top of that I am really going to need a vaca after
Disney. : ) This
is really our first family trip since Cole was born, well besides Crapport, TX
(aka Rockport), the lovely Galveston, TX (got to love the brown ocean water), and
Altus, OK (Cole is just living the life isn’t he). Trips with toddlers are hard enough. Trips with diabetic toddlers are even
harder.
I know Cole is a bit young for Disney World, but I wanted
him to go someplace special, hell I wanted to go someplace special. It’s been a long tough year and we could all
use some “magic” in our life. So watch out Disney because the Eller’s are coming
(with excel spreadsheets and massive amounts of medical supplies)!!
